Felicitation of the OMC Super 30 Students by Hon'ble CM Sj. Naveen Patnaik

OMC is the largest State Public Sector undertaking in the country in Mining Sector with a turnover of around Rs.2000 crores in the financial year 2015-16

As a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR),OMC has been proactively supporting various developmental activities across the State.In the education sector,under the State government vision of establishing Model Schools in every block,OMC has committed Rs 100 crores.

OMC has started an initiative to support underprivileged yet bright students for higher education. In collboration with Center for Social Responsibility and Leadership(CSRL)New Delhi,OMC has taken the initiative to support the coaching of talented students after Class 12th for competing in the Joint Entrance Examination(JEE) for IITs,NIITs etc.

Two batches of 30 students each were started under this initiative in 2015.'OMC SUPER 30' batch with 30 students from keonjhar,Sundargarh,Jajpur,Dhenkanal,Angul,Jagatsinghpur,Khurdha,Kalahandi,Koraput & Rayagarh Districtand another 30 students under 'OMC SUPER 30 ODISHA'batch from all over the state.All the students are from families with income of less than Rs 2.5 lakhs per annum(Criteria for selection).

The 60 Students were provided 11 month free residential coaching to compete in the IIT and other Premier engineering exams.OMC has borne the entire financial cost of RS 1.5 crores(Rs 2.5 lakhs per candidate)

The results have been very encouraging.Out of 60 students ,52 have qualified the JEE Mains and hand written the JEE Advance Exam.Out of these 52 candidates,24 have qualified in the JEE Advance exam. It is expected that most of the students will be eligible for admission in the IITs or NITs. Of these 52 students ,13 are from SC category ,2 from ST Category and 17 from OBC category .Two girl students qualified the JEE Mains.

On 1st July,2016,Hon'ble Cheif Minister,Odisha Felicitated the students of OMC Super 30 who qualified in JEE Main/Advance at Jayadev Bhawan ,Bhubaneswar.

The newly admitted next batch of 60 underprivileged talented students of OMC Super 60(Renamed) was also welcomed on the occassion.

Students pursuing their +2 Science Studies from other institutions of Bhubaneswar also participated in the function.

The achievements of the OMC Super 30 students will inspire the students of Odisha towards greater achievements in future.
